OmniPeek and Cisco AP Sniffer Combo

You can turn a Cisco lightweight access point into a sniffer and start capturing 802.11 traffic. WildPackets OmniPeek has built-in capabilities to grab Cisco AP captured traffic and decode 802.11 packets remotely. The Cisco AP must first be configured in sniffer mode. While in that mode, the AP does not process 802.11 client associations, it merely acts as a sniffer. Here are the steps to achieve this:

1. Your OmniPeek workstation must be connected to a wired network
2. Select a Cisco AP to capture traffic from
3. Configure your Cisco AP for sniffing, specify the desired 802.11 channel and provide your OmniPeek workstation IP address.
4. Setup OmniPeek to use a Cisco Remote Adapter
5. Start capturing traffic
